This was his last album.

I think this is one Miles best albums. The funky hip-hop flavor is something you can groove to

If you think this is one of Miles's best albums, birdog1, I question how many of his total output you have heard. 'Doo-bop' is 'interesting' in a technological sense but hardly breaks new ground musically in the manner of several of his releases from the 50's and 60's. gavinf@deakin.edu.au

WE WANT MILES!

While this is a decent effort by Miles to expand his musical horizons, I honetly have to say that my favorite Miles album is "Seven Steps to Heaven." Call me a "neo-classicist," but I know what I like.

Miles was a decent guy in his time, but in order to be cosidered a valid artist I think you should be able to play without cracking every other note. Miles seems to show great difficulty in being able to make it through 5 seconds without making a horrible blunder of some sort This is Miles at his worst, if you disregard every album that he put out in the 80's (and probably the 70's too, I wouldn't know because i don't listen to that crap.) If you want some real trumpet playing then listen to Freddie Hubbard.

Come on! Miles and Trane are the greatest but this one stinks. Despite the Miles-period you are into, compared to his past, this one is derivative, trite, bland. Strictly for easy-listening music fans trying to be hip on jazz.

Now hold up, this one isn''t bad. Sure it isn''t the most creative of his albums, and it does not even compare to his "classic quintet" stuff or even his stuff with Trane and Cannonball. But I find people were unable to accept Miles as an experimentalist and that is all he is doing on this album. To be quite honest I friggin'' cannot stand rap myself, never have, but Miles performance I think is riveting. The vocal tracks though are something else. Did they really think these were necessary. I''m sorry but all these lyrics say tome is how awesome Miles is. I''ve also never been keen on "drum machine" jazz like Herbie''s "Perfect Machine" or "Dis is Da DruM," but this album really appeals to me. Overall, 7 out of 10. Definitely not Miles'' best album but far from his worst. MRGONE155
