Comments for Davis, Miles, A Tribute to Jack Johnson

E-MAIL: MRGONE155
A blues guitar tinged masterpiece of an album proving once again that Miles was always one giant step ahead of the times. 10 out of 10.
Good Lord! what an album. It`s the most tasteful rock-jazz/rock playing you`ll ever hear.John McLaughlin`s rythm playing is close to the bone. The grooves are hypnotic, ferocious, and meaningful.Had Jimi Hendrix lived, I believe he would have moved in this direction (I think both Miles & J. McLaughlin were interested in furthering Hendrix`s legacy).Tasteful, perfect - try cutting one of these tracks off in the middle, and see if you can keep from putting it back on.P.S. - The freak-out guitar playing on Side 2 is credited wrongly - it`s Sonny Sharrock. He told me that it was him playing and Chick Corea(!) working an echoplex box down on the floor. Among the musicians on this arethose credited, + Dave Holland, Jack DeJohnette, Sonny, Chick Corea, & some others too I think. The music came from 5 different sessions. Only the musicians signed to Columbia received credit on the album cover.
