Comments for Davis, Miles, On the Corner

E-MAIL: scottm@pony-xpress.com
Yes, it sounds very relevant today (Public Enemy and lots of other contemporary people seemed influenced by Miles' work). It's dense dark funk, heavy rhythms on here. Actually I think some of Miles' later work improved on this concept, but this was pretty startling at the time. One of his many important albums, and probably the most abrasive of these. Worth digging. Jack DeJohnette & the other drummers on here really shine.
Sly Stone-style funk with a bit of spaciness added. Most known for being universally panned by critics when firstreleased in 1972.An excellent album in 1996, however.
