Comments for Deep Purple, Slaves And Masters

Deep Purple's first and only foray into the chart-friendly pop-rock area more usually associated with bands like Foreigner and Bon Jovi. Some good tracks if you like that type of music, but has less appeal to fans of the band's earlier material.

Because Joe Lynn Turner is singing, this comes off as much more as a Rainbow album than a DP album. Joe Lynn's voice is a bit rougher and a bit better than his Rainbow work and the DP musicians play terrific as usual. However, only a handful of songs work here as "King of Dreams", while a great deal falls flat as "Love Conquers All" or meanders as "Wicked Ways."

For all the people waiting for the follow up to Bent Out Of Shape here it is. Rainbow''s reunion album with 2 ex-members of Whitesnake. Exactly what one would expect from those two bands. WHAT???? It''s a DEEP PURPLE ALBUM!!!????!!! Oh! I couldn''t tell. Sorry. Nevermind. JimC.
