Comments for Deep Purple, Last Concert in JapanE-MAIL: a_ortiz@uscac1.usc.clu.edu Coverdale, Hughes, Lord and Paice had to overshadow Bolin in every way since he could barely play in that show.E-MAIL: metaljim@idir.net A perfect example of the choas that was Deep Purple near the end. Ego's out of control, drugs crippling the musicians, and complete lack of control by anyone involved with the band. The horrible version of Highway Star is a travesty! Possibly the worst decline of a major rock band in history. Still, the vocals are better here than on the King Biscuit 2CD set and there are some excellent performances here. Jon Lord's solo on You Keep On Moving may be his finest ever. Still if you wanted an example on how to destroy a bands legacy, here it is.
