Comments for Deep Purple, Nobody's Perfect

A much maligned release by the band, although I think people are too critical. While I've heard it's been tampered with and the album notes indicate some performances were spliced from different nights, soundwise the album is better than the Knebworth CD. The version of "Knocking At Your Back Door" is the best on any official release and all the bootlegs I've heard. The real crime is the way you have to buy the LP, CD and cassette versions to get all the songs. "Bad Attitude" and "Dead Or Alive" both outshine their studio versions and are still unavailable on CD. All in all, not a necessary addition to a collection, but worth a listen or two. Jim C.

I was at both the Irvine Ca. and Arizona shows from which approximately 2/3 of this material was recorded, and I can tell you from seeing RB many many times that these were two of the most subdued performances I have ever senn from him. Purple in concert should be a highly energetic evening and these shows just do not reflect it. The song selection on this CD leaves true Purple fans searching their collections for far greater live shows like Made in Japan and Scandenavian Nights. I must painfully warn Purple fans against this one. Phil K.
Live performances. Dates range from May 23, 1987 to February 26, 1988.
