Comments for Del Amitri, Some Other Sucker's Parade

I must admit that I''m a huge Del Amitri fan because of songs like Be My Downfall, This Side Of The Morning and Whiskey Remorse...BUT...I have to say I do like this "different" Del Amitri. It''s a fresh change of pace from the, to borrow a word from the "In the Frame" lyrics, maudlin tone of Twisted. Yes, it''s pop...but great pop. Inspiring. Anyway, whenever I want to get introspective, I''ll pop in the older stuff. Overall a great effort because it''s different...yet uniquely Del Amitri.

Look up "pop" in the dictionary and you`re not gonna see a picture of U2; more likely, you`ll see Del Amitri. This albumis a collection of new (but seemingly familiar) confectionsthat almost define the pop genre, meticulously engineered, recorded and mixed. The result is the best dels record to date; virtually every song is memorable enough to be hummed(or sung) along to after only a couple listens (which,come to think of it, is usually the case with U2 as well).(09/03/97)
