Comments for Dylan, Bob, Saved

Dylan's second Christian album. Not a personal favorite, but if you like religious music, and like Dylan, you'll love this stuff. I may vehemently disagree with some of the messages here, but I'll admit it's great music, and great songwriting too.

I hate saying this as a huge Dylan fan, but "Saved" is pure crap.

Mediocre.

If you say this is pure crap, Then you are not a huge Dylan Fan. I don't agree with all the messages either, I am Jewish, and am glad Bob's back to Judaism. However the performance is still beautiful.

This is bob's best album. It's nice to see that he can see the light. He just needs to take another step up and be converted into a mormon, for he will then be truly saved.

Though not as strong musically as Slow Train Coming, Saved is not the fundamentalist diatribe Dylan''s first Christian album was. There are some fine Gospel numbers here and there is much more nuance, understanding, and generosity of spirit evident here, especially on "Saving Grace" and "Covenant Woman". "What Can I Do For You" suffers from the line, "And you''ve chosen me to be among the few..." but otherwise it is a great song. This is no masterpiece but it is a solid album, and it is part of the greater spiritual search which has been a hallmark of Dylan''s career from the beginning. A good album!
