Comments for Eno, Brian, Neroli

I didn't like this album nearly as much as Brian Eno's other ambient works I've heard. To me, the interesting aspect of ambient music is the interplay of overtones ... the _quality_ of sound, not the notes that are played. Neroli is a solo piano album, but the chords fade out too fast to really give an interesting interplay of overtones.

I'd say this comes very close to an ideal of calm-inducing musical wallpaper. No sharp edges at all. Some maternity clinics use similar music for this very purpose.

This is the only album Eno has done that has left me both cold and scratching my head. Eno, ambient music''s creator, always described it as music that didn''t demand your attention, but rewarded it...Well, what''s this then?! I guess it''s weird to complain that an ambient album doesn''t "do anything," but this thing''s like a bubble bath with no water. Put on "Thursday Afternoon" instead.
This is a very quite Eno album, definately in the realm of "ambient". If you have heard "Thursday Afternoon", then you are familiar with the style. The album is very slow and meditative; you will either relax, fall asleep, or forget you have it on. Enjoy!
