Comments for Eno, Brian, Another Green World

A very lush album, in one sense the full flowering of a production talent (Eno) influenced by experimental methods and modern concepts in music (repetition, minimalism, slowly developing themes). Also kind of a zenith for a new wave of keyboard-oriented, post-German (Cluster, tangerine Dream, Can) rock sound. Full of material which is challenging, very pleasing to the ear, and quite important in the development of rock and post-rock music as an art form. The tracks as I recall are : Sky Saw Over Fire Island St. Elmo's Fire In dark Trees The Big Ship I'll Come Running Another Green World (Side Two) Sombre Reptiles Golden Hours Little Fishes Everything Merges With the Night Becalmed Zawinul/Lava I think I'm forgetting one track on Side Two somewhere. All of the tracks except "Little Fishes" (which is only average, and somewhat derivative as I understand of a Joe Zawinul track) are on the lovely Disc 2 of the "Vocal" boxed set.

My all-time favourite album. Manages to combine Eno's early vocal pop stuff with short ambient-like instrumental pieces. Robert Fripp is great on guitar, too.

This is the album Eno made after being layed up for months on end, due to a collapsed lung. The "birth" or "realization" of ambience some people say. Very well made, lots of thought-provoking songs and ideas here. A true innovator in my eyes.
