Comments for Eno, Brian, Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy)

This is the album that got interested in Eno's music. If you are a fan of new wave music or pop music, this album should be your first buy. I am now more into his ambient music now, but I still listen to this album quite frequently. A good listen.

A weird album amongst weird albums. Much more closed off and difficult to get a grip on than any of Eno's "rock" albums, but still engaging and enjoyable. Something for listening when you don't want to talk to anyone with just the right balance of aggression and melancholy and plain weirdness. It was a shock for me to hear it in public once at a social function. I didn't think anyone played music like this in public.

This was catalog number EGCD17 for reference. I like the Modern Lovers reference. This album shows his appreciation for the Chinese. Eno "Treatments" abound! He found his "cards" in this period of his life.
Quite unusual, and it definitely grows on you. It`s intenselyminimalistic, and reminds me especially of Wire (who I thinkwere influenced by this) and Robert Wyatt (who was involved withthis). I recommend tracks 1,2, & 5 as especially worthwhile.
