Comments for Eurythmics, 1984

"Music derived from Eurythmics' original score of the motion picture '1984'." Dark, moody, yet infused with solid rhythmic cross-structure, this evocative and well-thought-out collection of pieces (some instrumental) provides an interesting counterpart to the more exquisite forms of the music used in the soundtrack. Contains the singles "Sexcrime" and "Julia;" the title track is also particularly outstanding. =mw=

Surprised to never seen it massively promoted, this album was a classic even in 1984, from the chillingly soulful "I did it just the same"..to the ethereal yet abysmal Winston's Diary to the subter-energetic "Ministry of Love" A must listen in all cases!

This is a seriously underrated album. When you are listening to the crystalclear production, and particularly when you are listening to it while watching teh movie, it is in one word a striking soundtrack!

1984 is Eurythmics'' last great album until 1988''s Savage. What unites 1984 with In The Garden, Sweet Dreams, Touch, and Savage is the personnel: no one but Annie and Dave. They worked so well together, they didn''t need anyone else; though it''s great that they experimented with larger groups, these albums are their best. And 1984, specifically because of the instrumentals that use Annie''s voice as an instrument like a sax or flute through sampling, is their most unique album, and a powerful one from start to finish.
