Though I am a big fan of Maynard's I have to say this is one of his worst. I would not recommend it to anyone who is not merely a collector.

SOME UNFAIR COMMENTS I THINK, check out Cruisin' For a Bluesin' - The acapella sax section rules.

Footpath Cafe' is a great album! Even though MF doesn't sound his best, his band sounds incredible and the charts are great! Roger Ingram plays a mean lead trumpet, and the whole album is worthwhile! Matt Keller

This album is not recorded very well, but it makes up for it with some great charts like "Get It To Go", "Break the Ice" and "Hit and Run"

"Some unfair comments. There are many great compositions, such as Diblasio's "Hit & Run", and Matt Wallace's vocal on "Poison Ya' blues" burns the soul!

I get the sense this was thrown together rather quickly. However, the charts are well-written, and the band is very tight! I'm glad I have this one. Hell, I'm glad I have them all :)

This album has to be by far MF's worst album ever!!!!!!!!!

To those who think this is MF's "worst" album ever, take a listen to Ridin' High and see if you still feel the same way.

Maynards chops may not be what they used to, but for an old guy he still kicks major ass. I love this album because it shows that he can still scream when he wants to.

Sorry but I agree with the majority on this one. Footpath is the least listened to out of all of my albums. Brazil is smokin' but lasts too damn long! Best tune is Break the Ice. Sorry Maynard buddy, nothin personal.

I could not agree more with the people that have commented on this album. A friend of mine let me borrow this CD, and boy am I glad I didn't buy it! In all honesty, the band was not as tight as I expected, and Maynard played much better on this first version of Cruisin' on "Big Bop Nouveau". I really digged the piano solo on Brazil, and Roger Ingram's phenominal lead and bluesy trumpet. All in all though, a definite thumb's down.

I am looking for a complete listing of every CD out there with Maynard Ferguson on it. If you know some i would greatly appreciate it if you sent the album name. If you know where you can purchase it, that would be great to include too. thanks MF fans!

You guys are all nuts! This album is really, really hot! The only objections I have are tracks 4 and 6; neither Maynard nor Matt Wallace can sing worth a damn. But, every other tune swings like hell. Those of you who think that this was thrown together rather quickly forget that it's a live album. No, not every note is above the staff but screeching seems better to me when it's used sparingly in this case. This is one of my favorites in the Big Bop Nouveau era and I listen to it often.

I understand some of the put downs that this album gets. But, "Break The Ice" kicks ass. So does "Hit and Run." The cover is cool too. MF Horn 1 kicks also!!!
