Comments for Ferguson, Maynard, Live at the Great American Music Hall Part I

Lin Biviano does some truly fantastic lead playing on this album, at times sounding (and this hurts to admit) Better than Maynard.

"Although a impressive set, this Maynard seems a little different with fusion. I like the big bandish stuff he does better then fusion. It was the seventies...what can I sayay?! Kelly Goerbig

This is NOT one of the better live recordings of Maynard''s band out there. The playing is, at times, too loose and sloppy. The solos (particularly the saxes) go a little too "far out" for my tastes; a little too much honking and squealing and not enough thoughtful improvization. Also, lead trombonist Billy Graham blasts way too loudly. Nevertheless, the album does have it''s good points and it''s the only live recording from this particular version of his band. Still a must for any Ferguson Fanatic.
Producer: Dave KayEdited from the analogue tapes by Dave Kay (who did a wonderful job! May God Bless him).Email welcome to MF Fanatic E. Masseurs (edomass@ibm.net)
