It's nice to hear Maynard in the early years - and GREAT that they left in his between song comments. A really good live recording.

Just want to add a few here. On this JH-1030 album, I just want to ask a question. Near the bottom of the back cover it shows an address in Florida for other "JAZZ HOUR" releases.... anyone ever see or hear these other releases? Love to hear some more of that 7000 hours that they allegedly have! Randy /
The intonation, balance and drive of the band is outstanding, and then you have Maynard so what else Can I say.Except!!! Catch the bands singing on Christmas forModernsE-mail welcome from other fans

I recall hearing Maynard's 13 piece band in the early 60s and it was the most exciting musical experience I've had to date. I loved the Willy Maiden arrangements and the trumpet section could raise you 8 inches off your seat. Anybody remember the Minor Key in Detroit, Mi? I think 13 pieces is a minimum for getting a true big band sound.
