Comments for Ferguson, Maynard, M.F. HornE-MAIL: dhuber@dpi1.k12.de.us This album is just fantastic! I love to hear Maynard soar above the ensemble with such a rich sound. This is yet another great album that needs to be on CD!E-MAIL: Phillip.Erskine.2@nd.edu Eli's Comin' Rocks!E-MAIL: schultz@mwt.net "Mac Arthur Park" is a classic MF tune - and for a BETTER version (if that's possible) check out the same tune on "MF Horn 4&5 - Live at Jimmy's"E-MAIL: dmiller@greenapple.com This is a good album! I have two, one cover has Maynard's face and the other has him seated on a stool. Is one a Re-issue, Re-print, Re-pressing, Re-release...?E-MAIL: CableGuyJ@aol.com dmiller... I've got the two covers also. What gives?E-MAIL: jhimes@csc.com The "stool cover" is the original. The "face cover" came out a bit later. So if you want the original, get the one with him sitting on the stool. The content is identical in both albums.E-MAIL: dizman54@aol.com Wow! This album is incredible. Maynard sound so pure and powerful! I listened to L-Dopa, I don't know how many times. Why isn't this on CD? And by the way, the version of "MacArthur Park" on "M.F. Horn 4&5-Live At Jimmy's" is NOT better. Buy this album! NOW!E-MAIL: shg@bit-by-bit.com The only thing better about the "Jimmy's version" of Mac Park is the one of a kind Bari solo by B. Johnston. The Mf Horn Mac Park is stunning: Maynard is so strong, he plays more of the theme, it is nearly flawless!E-MAIL: mbartusiak@home.com I have to say, out of the many many Maynard albums I own and enjoy, this and the Columbia album "Maynard Ferguson," are my absolute favorites. On this particular album, I think Eli''s Comin'' is the best MF screamer selection yet I am sort of hooked on track 5, "If I thought you''d ever change your mind." A very good all around big sound with a good alto solo by Pete King, a true king among Maynard''s lead saxes!! I give this album a 10!! Awesome Ferguson album! First of three M.F. Horn albums.Check out #1,3,4,6 -- the best on the album. Eli`s Comin`is a 1967 classic by Laura Nyro.mcseke@rogers.com The two shorter track on both sides are good, not crazy about the longer ones.Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
