Comments for America, Hourglass

"Hourglass" is one of America's finest efforts. It is a testiment to the fact that America is still producing the finest quality music.....as they have for the past 25 years. Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell are still two of the most talented and creative artists on the music scene today. "Hourglass" is loaded with hits....which is very typical of America's albums over the years. America.....and quality.....endures.

I was SO glad when they put this out. It had been a while, and I thought they had fallen into a coma. These guys are great....! :-)

The old and new sounds are mixed, the old and the new way of making music let this album to be one more masterpiece of Beckley and Bunnell. I think this have to be the first of a long new series for the future.

HOURGLASS is the latest & greatest by AMERICA. It is the very best group of songs on earth. Everyone I give a copy to loves it. I vote it best CD of 1994. GERRY & DEWEY get an A+ for this great addition to the portfolio. American Gramaphone may still have some at $9.99 @ 1-800-446-6860. Pick up a dozen !

With the resurgence of folk, "Unplugged", and acoustic instrumentation in the 90's, America finally got back to some of its old sound. Still more Adult Contemporary than rock, but, hey, they're getting older! (And so am I!) "Young Moon" and "Call of the Wild" are excellent. I hope this is the first of many new albums by my favorite group.

HOURGLASS is a return to those great acoustic days of the AMERICA and HOMECOMING albums. No disappointments here. A great Beckley, Grammy nominated song, "Hope." There's also two marvelous Beckley/Bunnell songs, "Young Moon" and "Garden of Peace". This is a must for all AMERICA fans!

After 17 years (since they left WB), America has finally returned to the sound that put them on the map in the first place. Although there are a couple of tracks that appear to be "solo" material, the CD is a terrific one. The blending harmonies of the duo have not sounded this good since "Silent Letter". The best tracks are "Close To The Wind" and "Garden of Peace". Both would have been great releases if given the chance.

Everything about this album is nice! I liken it to the return of two great friends -- Gerry and Dewey. A number of us have met them, rooted for them, and I just feel like this is their "thank you album" to us. Photos inside paint such an intimate portrait of this great band. Congratulations on your Grammy nominations, Gerry for "Hope". Couldn't happen to a nicer guy or group.

A great album! It's a crime that this album was ignored by the media! Dewey's stuff really stands out!

I'll tell you what you should have done with those lame lyrics, forget them. I guess this must mean they let you have aol accounts in prison.

What a fantastic CD!!!! Why any of these songs did not get any airplay (especially "Young Moon" and "Whole Wide World") is beyond me. Dewey's vocals on these 2 tracks are unbelievable. These guys are still in top form.

I just love this album, every single song is a masterpiece. Once you listen to it, it just leaves you wanting more and more of it and I never grow tired of listening to it. AMERICA'S music is still alive and just like fine wine it has aged very well. This is definitely one of their best Albums. No AMERICA collection is complete without this!

I was thrilled to learn America was releasing a new CD. I bought it without hearing a song on it and was not at all disappointed. Great songs on this CD (Although I could've done without the two remakes). "Sleeper Train" is by far my favorite song on the CD. A haunting bass line, great lyrics and great voice by Dewey is as good as anything he's ever done. It's a shame it didn't get any airplay at all. Other great songs "Young Moon" "Hope" "Garden Of Peace" (With great background by Carl Wilson), "Whole Wide World" etc. If you liked Old America, I'm pretty sure you'll like this CD............PS
