Comments for Ferguson, Maynard, Hollywood

This album is fantastic. The best tracks are those featuring LA's best horns: Jerry Hey, Chuck Findley, Gary Grant, Larry Hall, and Allen Vizzutti.

The LP that I have is catalog number FC37713. I loved this album when I was 16 and finding young love, but now I think it is sort of cheesy.

I could have done without the theme from "9 to 5" but love the chart "Hollywood" and the trumpets on "For Your Eyes Only" . If you get a chance to see the PLAYBOY JAZZ FESTIVAL video from the early 80's, you get a chance to hear and see some hot arrangements of "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" and "Portuguse Love". Awesome!

Boss, what the HELL were you thinking? 9-5 and then Don't Stop til You Get Enough. No need to bite off from Michael Jackson! Cheesy but good and funny Album!

As the above comment suggests, where the heck can we get the old CBS albums from the late 70s and early 80s - Columbia is letting a lot of people down! e-mail me if anyone has a clue!

I really like this album - "Portuguese Love" is fantastic - but I miss the MF band on this one.

This album is great if you love rinky dink meolodies and half ass playin. The only good chart on this album is For your eyes only and thats only because Maynard decides to do what hes best at , screammin. Other than that one song this album SUCKED!!!!

After reading all of the other comments above, I felt I needed to add my 2 cents worth. This album is not very good. I love Maynard Ferguson and really enjoyed the song "Hollywood" in concert but the recording on the album is a big let down. It features more of David Sanborn than the boss and I HATE David Sanborn! All of Maynard's solos sound like they were enhanced by a synthesiser. This album probably came as a result of some stupid Columbia executives thinking that if Maynard recorded some hit pop songs he would have a great album. They were WRONG! I still am glad I own this album though. I will always continue to buy anything that Maynard does wether it is great or not. Most of the time it is great!

Gentlemen, and Ladies We all know that MF is the trumpet god, but when he performs on Hollywood, he is the supreme leader of all. What a track! I wish MF would release another greatest hits CD and include "Hollywood" and "For Your Eyes Only" This is one album to treasure forever!

Oh Please re-release this album as it brings back memories of yesteryear!!! I only want to hear ''For your eyes only'' and ''Hollywood'' one more time!!! Also Allen Vizutti ain''t a bad player either, but Maynards still god!!!
