Comments for Ferguson, Maynard, Maynard Ferguson (Alive and Well in London)

"Bridge Over Troubled Waters" is one of my all-time favorite MF recordings. His playing is so strong and clear and soaring above the band. It doesn't get much better than that.

My favorites on this album are "The Serpent" and "Stoney End". These are fantastic renditions of some of the music of the day. And you gotta love the cover with the "what me worry?" look on Maynard.

Said to be MF's least favorite album on Columbia.

What a shame that Maynard thought of this as one of his least favorite albums. I found it to be very polished with excellent arrangements, at least on par with M.F. Horn One. The harmony of the saxophones on "Stoney End" captured me even as a 14 year old boy.

Least favorite? I thought that honor went to "It''s My Time", also his last on Columbia.
