Side 1 (1-4) Atlantic City, June 22, 1949Side 1 (5-6) New York, October, 1949Side 2 (1-4) Balboa Beach, July 29, 1949Side 2 (5-6) Balboa Beach, August, 1949The album reads: "On this recording the fantastic trumpet work of Maynard Ferguson, who left Canada for good with Barnet only that summer is featured throughout whistling with ease throughout the upper register of his horn. Doc Severinson also in section. "All The Things You Are" is a BLAST! I have many MF albums, E-mail me for trade. All M.F. fans should own a copy of the "Trumpets on High" album!

In the Fall of 1949 (Or possibly 1948) I attended a dance in Vancouver, B.C. and Chsrlie Barnett's band seemed to have many, if not most of the disbanded Stan Kenton Orchestra with Charlie playing "Fish-horn" duets with Maynard Ferguson with cup mute and a singer from the Kenton Band named Johnston. I was an ecstatic 18-year old aspiring trumpet player listening to that band with those 5 trumpet players from the mid-40's Kenton Band! As mentioned in the article the band was relaxed and having a good time and very professional at the same time!
