Comments for Ferguson, Maynard, Maynard Ferguson 1969

E-MAIL: HMcDade@aol.com
None of the selections on this album were performed as well as when previously recorded by his band of the early 60s. Perhaps had I not listened to Maynard 61, Maynard 62, Maynard 63, Newport Suite, and Swingin My Way Through College I might have enjoyed this album more.
With the orchestra of Rolf-Hans Mueller. Recorded in BadenBden, Germany. This is the original album which has beenreissued under various titles such as "Trumpet Rhapsody".Possibly one of MF`s best albums all around.
Isn't this the first of three pressings of a 1968 recording of Maynard in Czechoslovakia with a local Czech orchestra later issued by BASF with the title "Trumpet Rhapsody" which has an awesome rendition of "Tenderly." Maynard was not paid for the recording. Not available on CD ever. The lp as a whole is priceless, though I saw it on eBay at $20. KLK
