Comments for America, Your Move

E-MAIL: beechldy@mail.oeonline.com
"Your Move" marks a growing up of sorts for America. Their "sound" is has broadened and the emphasis has shifted to more of an Adult Contemporary sound. Lot's of Russ Ballard written songs on this album-but America takes those songs and makes them their own.

This album is more a reflection of Russ Ballard than America. Ballard produced it and wrote or co-wrote seven of the songs, while America was only involved in writing four. Still a good album, but could have used more Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley and a little less Ballard.

Some good stuff here, but it doesn't sound like America. "The Border" is a good song, but seems like a half-hearted attempt to update "Horse With No Name."

While not as strong as it's predecessor, "View From The Ground", "Your Move" has merit on it's own. "She's A Runaway" rates with Gerry Beckley's best and Dewey Bunnell takes a much softer aproach with "Tonight Is For Dreamers" and "Don't Let Me Be Lonely".

This album is finally available on CD as a French import and it includes the three songs from the Last Unicorn as bonus tracks.

I really didn't care much for this album at all. Except for "The Border" and "Love's Worn Out Again" nothing on this album really excited me. It seemed more like a Russ Ballard solo album. Jim...Erie. Pa

This is an excellent easy listening offering but not on a par with View From The Ground. "The Border", "Love's worn out again" and the title track represent the best of America - 90's style. I first bought it on vinyl and then cassette...despite searching about a half dozen online stores, I can't get a copy of it on CD...any help here would be great.

I remember being very disappointed when I first heard this album, although I kind of liked Dewey Bunnell's, My Dear... Everything else offered little else but cliche-ridden, watered-down, synth-pop which I personally don't like, though many other people clearly do...

This is my absolute favorite album, and I''m so glad it finally became available in CD. I''d name my favorite songs, but that would be most of them! This is the CD I play whenever I need a pick-me-up. It always lifts my spirits.
Produced by Russ Ballard. Contains hit "The Border."

Russ Ballard's influence is evident on this great LP. The first single "The Border" was a good song that did pretty well on the charts, but Capitol records blew it again and took away any momentum the LP had with releasing "Cast The Spirit" as the second single. If they would have picked the upbeat "My Kinda Woman" or the pretty "She's A Runaway" or the title track "Your Move" the chances would have been better. "My Kinda Woman" is my favorite with "She's A Runaway" a close second...........PS
