Comments for Gowan, GOWAN

Someone PLEASE tell me how I can get this album!!
E-MAIL: patrick.cossette@conoco.dupont.com
This album has a lot of keyboards and is a little progressive-like. I talked to Gowan last friday(March 22,1986)after his show in Montreal and he told me that his record company is going to re-issue this album on CD.

It is now available on CD. (You meant 1996, right?) I hear it was a great show.

EXCELLENT album. No longer availble through SONY, but check out "used" record stores for this delightful find!!!

A great album! I didn't even know this one existed until a month ago! I just saw Gowan last Thursday (June 13/96) and was THRILLED when he said it would be re-released on CD... More, Larry! MORE!

On the off chance that anyone decides to email laykroyd@uvic.ca re Gowan, DON'T--send it to this address instead. I just got my owm email address and was borrowing my brother's...not that he minds, but it makes more sense this way... By the way, I found GOWAN on CD (which surprised me) in a used music store--I'm glad to hear it's being re-released since it's terrific.

I happened to come across this album 10 years ago while vacationing in New Brunswick. Having already listened to his Strange Animal album, it was nice to hear some "retro Gowan". Good stuff! The only disappointment was that the printed lyrics were not included.

Some "retro" Gowan! He was just as good then as he is now. I found this tape at a used store. Would love to find it on CD!

Huh? Did I say anything about him NOT being good back then? No-o-o. But having thought "Strange Animal" was his first album, imagine my surprise when I found he had an earlier release. Imagine the record store clerk's disappointment when I told him I bought the last copy!!!

Good progressive album, as someoene else said. I bougth this album 10 or 11 years ago, just after Strange Animal... I still have it... not on CD... not on cassette... but on a good old LP. The lyrics, by the way, are included. I'd like, however, to buy the CD. So what's up? Is it still avaliable on record stores? or should I go to a second-hand store? Anyway... I went to his show tonight (oops, it's 3 AM, yesterday!). An incredible 2-hour performance alone on stage. That was my 6th Gowan show, and one of the bests...

I envy all of you Gowan fans living in Canada. He just never set the U.S. on fire, so I highly doubt I''ll ever get to see a live show. I can''t even get his CD''s here - I just bought two over the ''Net, and now I guess I''ll just have to buy this one, too, if it''s as good as you all say it is...
This was his first album, not particularly well received and yet has some really exciting music.

I bought GOWAN at HMV in Downtown Toronto (333 Yonge St). Didn't see any last time I went, but they were keeping them in good stock for a while. I noticed something after listening to it a few times. I wasn't really enjoying the album, for the simple fact that there were some weak tracks which were all being lumped together. I found that the listening experience for this album would be incredibly enhanced if the order of songs was switched. Try programming the songs on the CD reissue in this order: 01 Jet White 04 Make it Alone 03 Come a Little Closer 06 Oceania 05 Send Me Energy 07 I Was Only Looking 08 I'm Not Involved 02 Keep Up the Fight 09 Give In 10 Victory That way, weaker songs hold more strength, since they're spread among the album's gems :D.
