Comments for Grateful Dead, In The Dark

E-MAIL: charles.carlino@prudential.com
I don''t mind slick production...sometimes... but when such weirdisms (even for the Dead) as ''tiger-sound'' samples, odd vocal effects (What the heck did they do to Jerry''s voice on Push Comes to Shove?), and the like are used... well, I don''t like it. Still, In the Dark succeeds as a Dead studio album for it''s sheer energy and enthusiasm level. I just wish it had been more stripped down and less produced. I give it an ''8.'' (And, yes, it did ruin the scene... but I think it ruined it because it was a good album, it was the late ''80s-- Anyone remember how BAD ''80s music was? -- and there were a lot of young kids who wanted to live the GD experience.)
The album that ruined the Grateful Dead scene.
