Comments for Hawkwind, PXR5E-MAIL: NooAwlins@AOL.com Hard to think of a Hawkind album as being 'regular.' This one's got a couple of really good tracks -- Uncle Sam and Jack of Shadows. Whatever you may think of Hawkwind, these guys are still rocking after 20 years. At least they're not selling you Budweiser beer and Camel cigarettes.E-MAIL: g.j.pierce@aberdeen.ac.uk The original lp release (Charisma CDS 4016)has a completely different version of "High rise" on it. That version does however appear on the CD compilations "Spirit of the age" (Virgin COMCD8) and "Tales from Atomhenge. The Robert Calvert years" (Virgin CDVM 9008). [Essentially the same compilation with a couple of tracks changed]. PXR5 was effectively a posthumous release, delayed when Hawkwind split up and Brock and Calvert formed the Hawklords. Obviously Hawkwind didn't stay dead for very long!E-MAIL: jamesrichmond@orgaz.co.uk One of the finest 'mellow' Hawkwind albums. The live tracks such as 'Robot' are well recorded and overdubbed. A good starting point for the Hawkwind newcomer. Original sleeve included a picture of an electrical plug with incorrect wiring. Some copies had the picture stickered over in case anybody used it as an authentic wiring diagram, then the picture was changed completely.E-MAIL: simon.grundy@azlan.com.uk Has a slightly disjointed feel to it. 2 all time classics included though. Robot, with an amazing violin solo from Simon House, and certainly one of the best 3 HW songs off all time, High Rise, based on the JG Ballard novel of the same name. A `regular` Hawkwind album ... nothing spectacular, nothingoverly heinous. It bugs me that Hawkwind just throw studiotracks and live tracks together and call it an album. 3 ofthe songs on this album are `live`.Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
