Comments for Henley, Don, Building the Perfect Beast

don Henley's "building the perfect beast" is a landmark album for solo artists who have left their respective powerhouse groups. Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, couldn't make a mark for themselves on their own without their respective bands. songs like "the boys of summer", "Sunset grill", "Not enough love in the world", "You're not drinking enough", are all personal trademarks of Don Henley. each song holds a personal spot in my heart. "Boys of summer" is my heartbreak song, "Sunset grill" is the ultimate lay on the porch on a hot sunny day with a beer in your hand. "You're not drinking enough" is the song that you shouldn't listen to if you just broke up with somebody - it might drive you to a meeting with AA. "Boys of Summer" and "A Month of Sundays" are excellent! I love his music.

Don Henley proves to everyone that he was a major contributor to the "magic" of the Eagles' classic sound. He is a gifted songwriter with a knack for telling a story. My favorite cuts are: Sunset Grill, Land Of The Living, A Month of Sundays and Boys of Summer. Incidentally, I believe the video for "Boys of Summer" won an MTV award.

Great album, though I was a little taken aback by "Man With A Mission". The best song on the album is "A Month Of Sundays", which is like his other epic songs ("The Last Resort" and "New York Minute").

"You Can''t Make Love" and "Driving with your eyes closed" are also great! Be warned, all Don fans : There is a wussy page called don-henley.com hosted by some bible-thumper who has nothing to do with the great Henley! Guess Don was singing about guys like him in "The Last Resort".
