Comments for Hiatt, John, Walk On

E-MAIL: jeff.stangl@fastenal.com
After hearing a few minutes of "The River Knows Your Name" on REV radio (Twin Cities), I sought out this album. It is the first John Hiatt album in my collection, and if this is low key I may not be ready for what came before. Be that as it may--For anyone who has lived on or near any river and found a connection with it, Haitt''s haunting riverine ballad empites into your heart like the Mississippi gathers its tributaries and ushers them into the depths of the Gulf.
A very low key album in the wake of Perfectly Good Guitar, and you`ll probably need to be a real John Hiatt fan to get anything out of it. Cry Love is the only worthwhile rocker on this album of mainly acoustic offerings, but songs such as Walk On and Dst Down A Country Road are excellent from a musical standpoint. It`s not so much a "must have album" as it is an interesting excursion in to a different style for Hiatt.
