Comments for Hitchcock, Robyn and the Egyptians, I Often Dream of Trains

"I Often Dream of Trains" is an almost entirely acoustic effort by Hitchcock without The Egyptians or The Soft Boys and I don't miss them at all. Until the Rhino reissue the album was almost unheard of and unfindable but it's brilliant and a must have for everybody on the planet but Tippersticker.

Really, really good stuff though a bit dark and disturbing. Robin sounds better solo, as on this LP and later on Eye, than with loud rock backing. There are some really exceptional tracks on this and as a whole it''s quite interesting. Reminds me of the Beatles circa 1968 at least a little bit, John Lennon especially.
