Comments for Hootie and the Blowfish, Cracked Rear View

E-MAIL: cpcisler@students.wisc.edu
I purchased the cd after hearing "Hold My Hand" Saw them in concert w/Big Head Todd & the Monsters in early November and haven't stopped listening to Cracked Rear View since!! EVERY song is super, meaningful lyrics, kick ass rhythm. They're right up there with the BoDeans!!
E-MAIL: jimmyr@nando.net
Easily one of the best albums I have purchased in the past year. The lead singer has an amazing voice and the songs are original, hook-filled rock greats.
E-MAIL: GRAYJ@TIGER.HSC.EDU
I HAVE LISTENED TO THEM FOR A LONG TIME. IT IS ABOUT TIME THEY FINALLY GOT THE RECOGNITION THEY DESERVE.
E-MAIL: jtuvey@research.westlaw.com
Easily the best album i've heard in a long time. does anyone know of any earlier Hootie stuff on CD? i'd love to get ahold of something like that!
E-MAIL: jrosales@saunix.sau.edu
If you don't love these guys there is something wrong with you!
E-MAIL: Alan_Mauldin@Baylor.edu
I was luck enough to see these guys in concert this Winter, The Edwin McCain Band opened for them, does anyone know anything about them, they were incredible as well.
E-MAIL: juliusC@scarolina.edu
This guys are great. I've seen them since they were just a local college band at the University of South Carolina. They are at their best in small venues, but are just as good anywhere. If you get a chance check Hootie out! They're great!

I popped this CD in, and it hasn't left since. Easily one of the best albums I have heard in a long time. Every song is extremely catchy and will brighten anyone's day. JUST GET IT!
E-MAIL: sek114@psu.edu
I agree with everyone else. This is one of the best albums I have ever purchased. I bought it after only listening to one song, Hold My Hand. All of my friend yelled at me for doing that. They're not yelling anymore. I have one question for whoever is reading this. I have heard that Hootie had a private label album entitled, Kootchipop. Does anyone know if it is possible to get this album. If so where and how?
E-MAIL: spattij@oct1.org.tec.sc.us
The group produced their own CD "Kootchypop" which sold around 40,000 copies. This is what caught Atlantic Records attention. I believe Atlantic Records bought the rights to the CD and it is now out of print. No doubt songs from "Kootchypop" will be appearing on future CDs. The best thing about the group, besides their music, is that they are just four regular guys!!. I have been listening to their music for over five years and it just keeps getting better.

Hootie put out three albums before being picked up by a big record label. They have their own label, Blowfish Records in Columbia, SC. I have had the opportunity to meet this guys and they are just regular guys. The first time I saw Hootie I paid $3 and I saw them a few months ago and they have not let the money go to their heads. You can tell that these guys love to perform in front of crowds. Look for some kickin' songs from Hootie in the future. They still have a few left over from the small bar days. The best thing about their music is that it's all original.

I have talked to these guys several times and they are some of the nicest, down to earth guys you'll ever meet. I have heard many of their songs that they haven't ever released, and believe me, they will be impressing you for many years to come. Darius Rucker, Mark Bryan, Dean Felbner, and Soni are even better in concerts. They do a few covers that are better than even the regular songs. These guys are truly amazing and will only keep getting better!

"Hold my hand," ha,ha,ha. This album is cool. They need to come out with another one.The video is cool. All my friends like Hootie too.COOL!
E-MAIL: larryty@ix.netcom.com
I bought the CD because of "Let Her Cry". It is the first CD that I have ever purchased that I truly loved EVERY track. I can't stop listening. IT is GREAT!!
E-MAIL: Fehrs@telnet.com
Hootie and the Blowfish is one of the first of many groups to get back in the style of meaningful lyrics. Many of their songs you can sing along to, but many you sit and just listen. Great Album

I was turned on to Hootie several months before Hold My Hand took off. I had a buddy go on vactaion and see them. We then began searching for the disc. One of the few searches worth it. I am a black guy that loves music in all forms, rock, rap, alternative, classical, blues all types. To see an artist like this band put out such meaningful songs both lyrically and musically is good. I recently traveled to the wisconsin Summerfest to see them for the first time. My buddy won front row center tiks when we got there. I am from Illinois and I would travel the 4 hours + many more to see them again. I would love to talk to the guys or to anyone who has talked to them. I want to know whatever can be known about them. viva Hootie!!!

When Hootie's first album came out, i bought it right away because I thought they would be good. I listened to it all once and I immediately loved it. All my friends thought they were sorry, but when they came out with music videos, then they started liking them after I had liked them almost a year! If you don't have the CD, I suggest buying it.
E-MAIL: lroimish@ultrix
I love this cd. My boy friend first got me into them, and now I'm practicaly singing them 24-7 Go hootie.... keep up the great work.

One fo my friend made a good pick in deciding to buy this album. After hearing it, I had to buy it too. However because of the obscurity, there were only a few albums on the island. Luckily, I found one, and "NOT Even the Trees" has been one of my favorite songs ever since. PLAY ON HOOTIE.

If you're looking to find a cure for insomnia, then try "Cracked Rear View", arguably the most boring #1 album in Billboard history. If you want meaningful lyrics, then check out the wonderfully satiric "Blur" or the equally good "Auteurs". If you want a tedious hour of music that's about exciting as watching paint dry, then stick with Hootie & the Blowjobs, errr, fish. It's not that the band are completely lacking in talent; on the contrary the lead singer has a wonderful voice, the big problem with this album is that it is simple "frat house" music, the type of stuff any joker with a guitar can play. Sorry, but Hootie & the Goldfish are neither exciting, deep or interesting.

the Blowfish are cool but I especially like Hootie!

I bought the album about a month after it came out, ever since it has been the first cd in my changer. Darius has a voice that you just can't seem to get out of your head. I had a chance to see them this summer with Edwin McCain, the show rocked. They are one of the few bands that sound better in concert than on album. Darius kicks ass, I mean he drinks budweiser what else need i say? check out the Edwin McCain record also its pretty good. If anyone knows any place I can reach a copy of their first cd could you please email me! Rock on Hootie!

I first saw Hootie on vh1 about 6 months ago, and loved what I saw and heard. I've been hooked on hootie ever since then and can't wait for their new album to be released.

Question: If the comments section is filled with such glowing reviews of Cracked Rear View, then why did it get such a low rating? By the way, I gave it an 8.
E-MAIL: Horse@hootie.hater
You are all a bunch of fucking idiots! Meaningful lyrics?, Since when is the sentiment "Hold my hand" meaningful or original. They are the greatest example of how mediocrity is glorified in popular culture, any Jackass can play simple chord progressions and sing lame ballads. Have any of you ever heard any real musicians?, Zappa, for instance.
E-MAIL: Hootie@ reallysucks.BAD!
They are easily the lamest band to have the most success that I have seen in some time. THEY SUCK PEOPLE !!! WAKE UP! I can play most of thier crappy melodies.Learn some guitar chords and you will know what I mean.In short, they are a band full of mediocre talents throwing around meaningless songs.....THROW THEIR ALBUM OUT!
E-MAIL: kaplanf@ucbeh.san.uc.edu
All of you little fucking frat-boy, fad following, Gap poster boy clones need to wake up. Do you like listening to all this commercial unoriginal music just because it seems cool. What kind of shit do you guys think is meaningful? You need to realize that all of this coporate sponsored crap rock is just empty attempts at artistry. I just want to fucking puke in your Dockers.

Those of you that complain about Hootie & the Blowfish, must be listening to a different album than the rest of us(the people with decent taste)!! As far as thier songs not being meaningful, why can't a song be about something pleasant?! Instead of depressed, flannel-clad, Seattle bullshit!! AS far as Zappa being a goood musician, last time I heard, there was only Frank, and you can't possibly mean him!! So who is the new Zappa? LONG LIVE HOOTIE!!!!!! HOOTIE RULES AND SO DO THE BLOWFISH!!!!!

I really enjoy listening to Hootie. So does my boyfriend. We have been trying to figure out the lyrics to I Only Want To Be With You for quite a while now. If anyone out there knows them or knows how I can get them, PLEASE send me the information. I will be very grateful.
E-MAIL: kaplanf@ucbeh.san.uc.edu
In response I'm not advocating whining angst written grunge, I'm sick of that music too. I'm simply looking for a band with originality and a willingness to experiment and expand musically as a group.
E-MAIL: moseman@intellisys.net
HOOTIE RULZ!!! LONG LIVE THE BLOWFISH!!! Anyone who doesn't LOVE this album should have thier head examined! Cracked Rear View is a great, no- WONDERFUL album, and it's worth ten times what it costs. Hootie and the Blowfish are the Beatles of the '90's, and if the world has any justice at all, they'll be even more popular. LONG LIVE HOOTIE!!
E-MAIL: urdumb@music.com
We have seen the "dumbing" of America hit an all time low with this band. Hootie have produced the most amazingly bland, poorly thought out record in the history of pop music. The truthis, a lot of people like them and they're entitled to their opinions. But while the British are engaged in some very thoughtful and even truly sentimental songwriting, America sits passively drinking a beer and listening to the same old "dumb" song.
E-MAIL: ginsuvictim@juno.com
Listen up, all you unoriginal fucking morons. MTV sucks. They spoonfeed you shit and you swallow it. No one would give a shit about Kootie and the Blowdicks if MTV and trendy faggot radio stations didn't stick it up your ass every five minutes. Get a life and listen to music that takes talent. May I lend you some Pink Floyd? I, too, would love to wipe my ass with your frat jackets.
E-MAIL: xxpjbxx@aol.com
Hasn't anyone besides my sister and me even NOTICED! that on two of the songs Darrius sings COMPLETELY FLAT in parts? It really bites your ears! Listen closely when he sings, Hold me, hold me, cuz I want get HIGHER AND HIGHER" TALK ABOUT A BAD NOTE..... and when he sings " I only wanna be with YOU" THAT IS ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU DRIVE YOUR CAR OFF THE ROAD!
E-MAIL: solbads@aol.com
LONG LIVE HOTTIE AND THE BLOWJOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Q.Can you REALLY take a band that calls its album KOOTCHYPOP seriously? A. Yes, if you''re one yourself. Q. What''s a kootchypop? A. It derives from Greek slang : (kuuch = crap, phop = great)
First major label release from this Columbia, SC band.
I recently bought the cd "Back to Then" by Darius Rucker. I will admit I only bought it for 1 song, "Wild One" and have since then fell in love with this cd. My favorites are "Back to Then", "Sometimes I Wonder" with Jill Scott, and of course "Wild One". This young man has a very hypnotic voice and I will be looking forward to hearing more from him. Keep up the good work Darius, and don't let anybody tell you different!!
