Comments for Howard, Miki, Miki HowardA good-enough effort from a vocalist deserving of better material. "If You Still Love Her" and "Come Home to Me" are classic Miki ballads, and her cover of Aretha Franklin`s "Until You Come Back to Me" is the song`s best remake version ever...smooth and silky pop at its best. Unfortunately, the album contains several slow moments. "Love Under New Management" is an overlong, tedious ballad with overdone neo-gospel backing vocals and a spoken monologue meant to recall 70"s soul...however, it onlys inspires the listener to look at his watch. "I`ll Be Your Shoulder" doesn`t recapture the magic of her last debut with Gerald Levert ("That`s What Love Is," from her "Love Confessions" CD) and the hip-hop track "Mister" is just plain tepid. "Love Me All Over" is an enjoyable funk track, and "Who Ever Said it Was Love" has a nice, smooth pop feel to it, but overall an album from a singer as talented as Miki Howard should be tighter and better constructed.Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
