Comments for Anderson, Jon, Change We Must

I was a bit dubious about buying this album following Yes's "Symphonic Music" album, which I thought was a dull, unispired effort, however "Change We Must" is excellent and shows what can be done to enhance a song with alternative arrangements. As for the covers: "State of Independance" is more smooth and flowing like it should be (but why, oh why, have a children's choir? I hate children's choirs). "Hearts" (from Yes's 90125) is perhaps the stompiest/heavyist piece on the album. "The Candle Song" is pretty much as the original Jon + Vangelis (from Page of Life) arrangement (only with real strings) and so too is "Hurry Home" (from Jon's City of Angels) but with an Irish feel percussion. "Under The Sun" (It's On Fire (?) from City of Angels) is for me the best of the covers, given an African slant. The new pieces are also excellent; "Run On Jon" is my personal favourite, a short, lively piano/strings instrumental. "Chagall Duet" is wonderful too, featuring beautiful French lyrics- a Jon Anderson love song at it's best. All the other new ones have their own individual merits too. A great album- the best Yes related thing I've heard in a long while.

Jon is always extremely creative and has the soul for wonderful music. His music always reminds me of fantasy novels and Medieval and ancient times.

The orchestral arrangements are much more than just a bunch of strings.The London Chamber Acadamy is Excellent. Jon Anderson sings four songs He recorded with other people. Hurry Home appeared on City of Angels. Heartsis an old YES piece. State of Independance Jon Recorded with Vangelis.Under the Sun was on his City of Angels Album under another Title. This Album is a must have for any Yes fan who like Jon.
