THIS CD IS AVAILABLE AS A JAPENESE IMPORT . I WAS ABLE TO GET IT FROM TOWER RECORDS ,AND I WOULD HAVE TO SAY AS AN AVID YES FAN ,IT IS WELL WORTH THE COST.

It may be easy to dismiss Olias of Sunhillow as an early New Age album, but if you listen closely, you will hear many examples of ethnic instruments from around the world, making this work an early landmark in the genre of World Music. It is also a dense work, all the more impressive as it was performed by only one person. Even the synthesizers have a very human feel, due to Vangelis' help with their programming and Anderson's sensitive playing. I remember nearly hating it when it first came out, but through repeated listenings, it has earned a permanent place in my collection.

I generally agree with "Bump"''s comments, although I believe I liked this album from the very start, when I first heard it around 1978 or ''79. The fact that all this music was by-and-large the sole creation of one musician just blows me away. Yes it''s available on CD now. - Thanks :)
Many folks like this record with it`s repeating rhythms andearly new-agey sort of story (yes it is a concept album). But as John`s first, it really leaves a lot to be desiredin light of the material that Yes had already done. Thisalbum is a collector`s item as it it out of print.
