Comments for Inspiral Carpets, Devil Hopping

E-MAIL: wsc@warwick.net
After first hearing the delightfully different sound of Saturn 5 and the fierce, stereophonic sound of Paranoid (Sort Yer Head Out) I was driven to buy Devil Hopping. Never a hardcore fan of the Inspirals, I was sucked in by the teasing vocals of To Hingley and the otherworldly organ sound of Clint Boon. The whole sound was so appealing... the mood swings in songs and the within the album itself really pull together a unique sound that forced me to kick U2''s achtung baby off the rack to make room for Devil Hopping. Evry song inside this album just gels into the next. This album carries an innovative sound... it''s something i''ve never seen before and would love to hear more of! From I Want You to Plutoman to Saturn 5 to Cobra to I Don''t Want to Go Blind to... Smokescreen
The last album made in conjunction with Mute (I`m not counting their Singles album) this was reputed to originally be named "Double Dung" but instead got the name "Devil Hopping" from the way that Pascal Gabriel pronounced "Developping". A unique direction for the Inspirals with some great tunes. From the all powerful "I Want You" to the great melody of "Just Wednesday" this album remains one of my favorites by the Carpets.

I am a huge Inspiral fan. Has anyone checked out The CLint Boon Experience? Good stuff though it takes a couple of rotations to get used to it. Looking on feedback for the solo Tom Hingley stuff though...anyone?
