Comments for Joel, Billy, Streetlife Serenade

E-MAIL: fungobat@sprynet.com
Not a bad album at all. The title track drags on a bit, but the two instrumentals (Root Beer Rag", and "The Mexican Connection") are very nice. I myself enjoy "Last Of The Big Time Spenders" and "The Great Suburban Showdown" a lot. "Roberta" is an interesting piece about prostituion, and "The Entertainer" is a nice follow up to "Piano Man". I noticed that in the comment preceding this one, that Chris noted that "Root Beer Rag" and "The Mexican Connection" are Billy's only instrumentals. Not so, as Cold Spring Harbor includes "Nocturne".

Woops! Sorry about the misreading of Chris''s comments. He *did* include "Nocturne" as an instrumental. My apologies for jumping the gun. :)
This is one of my favorite albums. It`s his California album, I suppose. It contains his only two instrumentals outside of _Cold_Spring_Harbor_ ("Root Beer Rag" and "The Mexican Connection"). This album was a commercial flop, although "The Entertainer" I think did okay, and made it onto some B-sides later. The rest of the songs are really just Billy the Balladeer. I listed this as "Rock" for want of a better category. _Streetlife_Serenade_ I only own in cassette, so someone might want to put the CD catalog number in here as well as track times, studio, and band information.
