Comments for Joel, Billy, An Innocent Man

I love this album! The Longest Time, Uptown Girl and An Innocent Man are a great, breezy doo-wop and Keeping the Faith is a wonderful autobiographical song. Classic Billy Joel.

A very favorite of mine, and easily one of the best albums that came out of the early 80s. It still holds up well, and had a ton of singles to go along with it. "An Innocent Man" is powerful, soulful stuff. "Easy Money" is a tad silly, but hell it was written for a Rodney Dangerfield movie. This album perfectly sums up fond memories of my pre teen years. I pretty much wore out the first copy that I had. I find this to be Billy''s most accessible LP.
A very doo-wop album; Billy wrote this for the singer, not the Piano Man. He picks up his first co-writing credit; "This Night" features music by Billy Joel and L. v. Beethoven. Not one of my favorites, but it`s still pretty good. Much more mellow than his other stuff; even the quiet stuff on _Cold_Spring_Harbor_ is passionate. This just sort of swings. _An_Innocent_Man_ was recorded at Chelsea Sound and A&R Recording, Inc., with Liberty DeVitto on drums, Doug Stegmeyer on bass, David Brown on lead acoustic and electric guitars, Russell Javors on rhythm acoustic and electric guitars, and Mark Rivera on alto and tenor sax, percussion, and vocals, plus Ralph MacDonald on percussion, Leon Pendarvis on Hammond B-3, Richard Tee on acoustic piano, Eric Gale on electric guitar, "String Fever" on strings, Ronnie Cuber on baritone sax, Jon Faddis, John Gatchell, and Joe Shepley on trumpet, David Sanborn on alto sax, Michael Brecker on tenor sax, "Toots" Thielemans on harmonica, and Tom Bahler, Rory Dodd, Frank Floyd, Lani Groves, Ullanda McCullough, Ron Taylor, Terry Textor, Eric Troyer, and Mike Alexander on vocals.
