The song "Modern Woman" appeared on the soundtrack for the movie "Ruthless People," starring Danny DeVito and Bette Midler.

I like this album. It does have it's faults, like any album, but it's good. This album is a must for any Steve Winwood fan, Cyndi Lauper fan, or Ray Charles fan.

Billys weakest album. A Matter of Trust and Time To Remember are good singles but the rest of The Bridge is just a rip off of his earlier triumphs. Big Man on Mulberry Street, for example, is in the same style as his jazzy numbers from 52nd St. but not nearly as strong.

This album rocks! The song "This is the Time" is one of Billy's best tunes!

Totally boring album. I waited 3 years for a new album and I got this dreck. "Modern Woman" was a throwaway single, "Temptation" was a drag and a half, "Code Of Silence" was a duet that should never have been, and "Big Man On Mulberry Street" appeared in an episode of Moonlighting. I do like "Baby Grand" however. "Getting Closer" is pretty funky as well, but you can keep the rest.
A pleasant jazzy turn-around from _An_Innocent_Man_, started in _Greatest_Hits_, but bluesier than _52nd_Street_. Second co-writing credit this time; words to "Code of Silence" co-written with Cyndi Lauper. Ray Charles`s wonderful voice and piano on "Baby Grand", and beautiful quiet stuff on "This Is The Time" and "Temptation". An excellent album, all around; one of my favorites. _The_Bridge_ was recorded at The Power Station, Chelsea Sound, RCA Studios, and Evergreen Studios, with Liberty Devitto on drums, Doug Stegmeyer on bass, and David Brown and Russell Javors on guitar, plus Rob Mounsey and Jeff Bova on synthesizers, Jimmy Bralower on percussion, Marc Rivera on tenor and alto saxes, Eddie Daniels on alto sax, Michael Brecker on tenor sax, Ronnie Cuber on baritone sax, Ray Charles on piano and vocals, Vinny Calaiuta on drums, Neil Stubenhaus and Neil Jason on bass, Ron Carter on acoustic bass, Dean Parks and John McCurry on guitar, Marvin Stamm and Alan Rubin on trumpet, Dave Bargeron on trombone, Don Brooks on harmonica, Steve Winwood on Hammond B-3, and Peter Hewlett and Cyndi Lauper on vocals.
