Comments for Joel, Billy, Further Than Heaven

Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure this album was released when he was a member of the band "The Hassles"

This album is in fact the Hassles second album, originally called 'Hour of the wolf' The A and B sides have been reversed for this release, ie 'Cat' was the first track on the 'B' side.

I haven't had a chance to hear this one, but I do thave the first album from the Hassles and, as I recall, Billy didn't do much singing. If you were intrigued by the sound of the Hassles, you should here his Atilla album. He sings on that one and you can tell he was being very experimental at the time.

I was waiting for this CD to come out domestically after the first Hassles CD was released (and hastily withdrawn :( ) but I don''t think it will ever happen. Fortunately, (or so I thought) I was able to obtain this Japanese issue. Although I am happy to own this album on CD, I am not happy that it was mastered directly from vinyl - clicks, pops and all. I suppose it''s better than nothing. Sure wish somebody would digitally transfer the ORIGINAL Cold Spring Harbor now. "Tomorrow is Today" is overproduced, and "You Can Make Me Free" is more than twice as long than it is on the official 1983 Columbia reissue, with an extended jam! Cool! ''Course as long as Billy doesn''t want it to be heard, it''s not going to be easy to find. (sigh)

This is a disk that I picked up in England ... not pretty stuff. The album has norelease date, but I imagine the stuff is pre-Cold Spring by the sound of the recording.It is nice to have in my collection, but I don`t listen to it much.

i am a huge billy joel fan. i had never seen this album before, and decided in order to fulfill my goal of owning every BJ album ever made, i bought it. it's a very different sound and im currenytly listening to the second song on the album. i'm very excited to own this cd because it's from the very beggining of billy's career. i love billy joel!!!!
