Comments for John, Elton, Made In England

"Made in England" is a fine return to form for Elton, which can only encourage his fans about the future. My favourite track, naturally is "Belfast" as it deals with the troubles in Northern Ireland, which affect me as a resident of the Republic. I hope that we will all get a chance to see EJ in concert when he returns to the stage in 1997, and watch out for the TV documentary "Tantrums and Tiaras" airing this summer, premiering on ITV in the UK, probably in late-May 1996.

My favorite track on this album is "House". I'm not sure what Bernie Taupin had in mind when he wrote the song, but it reminds me of Vincent Van Gogh. I think I have called it: Dear Theo circa July 1890.

I am a huge fan of Elton John and have been continually impressed by his albums since his "return" with "Too Low for Zero". There was a time, e.g. "Victim of Love", when I feared Reg had lost it. However, with "Made In England" he continues to create the fantastic melodies that have made him famous. Likewise, Bernie Taupin continues to write fantastic, emotional lyrics, "Blessed" is one of the best songs he has ever written. However, there is one caveat to this album, that being "Belfast". This melodramatic six and a half minute bore is a real blemish on an otherwise flawless album.

Every song in this album is a gem. "Beleive" announces today's problems. "Made in England" decribes EJ's past pains."House" is a creative, beautiful song. "Cold" is a catchy song about winning back the one you love. "Pain" is a rocking primal scream. "Belfast" laments over the suffering of the people of Belfast. "Latitude" caries a unforgettable melody. "Please" is both a rocker and a ballad that doesn't come across as silly. "Lies" and "Man" showcase Bernie's songwriting prowess very well. Finally, "Blessed" is one of the most finely crafted ballads ever performed. Once again, Bernie and Elton have outdone themselves with an album that excels musically, and lyrically, as well as maturely. Elton and Taupin fans will not be disappointed at all! A 10 all the way!

Another great album from the maestro! There's not a bad track on this album, and its success shows that Elton is still as popular and as good as ever. The best songs are "Made in England", a classic rocker which reminds of his seventies stuff; "Cold" with its haunting lyrics; and the excellent "Please", which you're mad if you don't like! One of my all-time favourites. Ross Mackie, Cambridge, England.

This was my first album Elton John ever. My first attraction to this albums was massive ballad called "Believe". It is just an excellent! His best work since Can You Feel The Love Tonight and Circle Of life. "Made In England" is also fabulous and so "Blessed". Every song on "Made in England" is great. This is a major improvement on his last effort, "The One" (1992) which had three great songs, one good song, and seven songs that weren`t worth listening to more than once. The first song is "Believe", a powerful ballad that reached #1 on charts throughout the world. Next is the title track, a song reminiscent of his hey-day rockers. A slow ballad, "House" follows. It is a song that you might not like the first time you hear it (I didn`t really care for it until I heard performed live) so listen to it again. "Cold" is the next track followed by the fast-paced "Pain", the melodic "Belfast", "Latitude", and "Please". The CD is closed out by "Man", "Lies" and "Blessed", the third single from the album. Every song touches different emotions by combining the enchanting lyrics of Bernie Taupin and the masterful music of Elton John. I strongly recommend this album.P.S. If you get the chance to see Elton in concert, go!He just turned 49 in March and you never know when he might decide to quit touring. He puts on a great show and once you see the greatest piano player ever to walk the earth perform live, you`ll know why they call him the Master Showman.
