Comments for John, Elton, 11-17-70

A good album... usually radio broadcasts are left to the bootleggers to release but, hey.. what's wrong with beating them to it? 11-17--70, or 17-11-70 (depending on where you live,) has a sister release on the black market... so I've heard. It has a lot of tracks on it that were from this perfomance but were not included on the original album. I hope some of these are on the Classic Years re-issue, however I've never seen a copy of that CD so I don't know for sure. Good album.

The Classic Years reissue contains only one bonus track, but it's damn good. It is the classic love song "Amoreena" from the Tumbleweed Connection album. As far as I'm concerned "Amoreena" is Elton's best song ever. It really rocks!

put these guys (meaning not only elton but dee murray and nigel ollson too) in front of an audience and they think they''re cream or the jimi hendrix experience. a rather odd statement to make about a band without a guitar player but this is definitely power trio stuff going on here. that said sixty years on is amazing . it''s worth the ten spot you''ll lay down for it alone. there''s lotsa other worthy stuff included here too but 18+ minutes of burn down the mission is overkill in the worst possible way. if you want a better live version of it buy here and there. you live in australia people keep your thoughts to yourself.
Elton`s first live album. It includes a cover of the Stones`Honky Tonk Women, a song from the Friends soundtrack - Can IPut You On, and a classic b-side - Bad Side Of The Moon. Only two of the songs on this CD are still performed on a regular basis.

I believe this of many Elton John albums to be one of his best for being the beginning of a 4 decade career...18+ of Burn Down the Mission is just the beginning...I agree Amoreena is a masterpiece.
