Comments for John, Elton, 21 At 33

"Sartorial Eloquence" is not half bad. I just wish Bernie had written it instead of ''what''s-his-name''. "Little Jeannie" is okay at first, but lures you to sleep as it goes along and suffers too much of that boring ''1980s sound'' that EJ was experimenting with back then. "Two Rooms" is the sequel to "Writing", a ''Captain Fantastic'' track, and is about EJ and Bernie getting back together again after a brief two-year hiatus from each other. All in all, a decent collection of songs and a HUGE improvement over 1979''s ''Victim Of Love'', which wasn''t Elton''s fault in the first place anyway.
This album was the first album in four years` time to release songs co-written by Taupin. Being Elton`s last offering on MCA for seven years, for the western fans of Elton John this album closed an era in his career as he began 1981 with the release of "The Fox"--the first of a series of releases on the Geffen label. For those who love this album---the outtakes you`d love just as much. Seek out "Conquer The Sun," "Cartier," and "The Retreat"---- songs proving that "21" could ahve made it easily as a double album.
Not too bad Mr John. Little Jeannie is a great love song, and the keyboard and brass arrangements throught the album are superb. Why this album was deleted along with The Fox and Breaking Hearts and not remastered is beyond comprehension, especially when the flakey Ice on Fire was retained.Still available as an Import and well worth obtaining.
