THE FIRST ALBUM, 'BIG PICTURE', WASN'T A BIG ALBUM, BUT A BIG PICTURE.
E-MAIL: sickof@diana.com
THUMS DOWN, MANO! Who wants to hear about Princess Diana? Let the dead bury their own. As far as I'm concerned, all the hoo-hah that EJ and other vacuum-heads made about her is total BS!
E-MAIL: george@hotmail.com
Hello to whatever loser wrote that this album is about Princess Diana. It was written before her death. She was his friend and this album has nothing to do with her.
E-MAIL: kittykatt@hotmail.com
I would have to agree with george. It is a good album, but you have to like the soft rock kind of music to like it. Perhaps sickof you should have put that comment on the "Candle in the Wind '97" album place. I hate people who don't know what they are talking about.

hey there boys, I'm not a loser. sorry if i pissed you guys off, i was just bugged with all that 'england's greenest hills' garbage that EJ put on CW 97. A real sell out. the original song described diana far better. once again, apologies if your sensibilities (bigword, eh?) have been hurt. I like Elton too.

To the last a**hole who commented on The Big Picture being about Diana and later apologized for it... listen to Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy (1975) and learn what Elton John is all about (Let's face it- you're not an Elton fan). You can then stick that 'sell-out' sh** in your a**, you loser!!!!

Hey Viper, better go wash your mouth out with soap! I have most of Elton's old songs and they ROCK! And do you know why, you foul-mouthed amphioxus? Because they have guts. Just check out 'I've seen that movie too', 'Jamaica JerkOff' and the one and only original 'Candle'. 'Made in England' was a good record too...it had some great songs like 'Man' and 'Please' which is a really offbeat love song. But that doesn't excuse the descent into slushy sentimentality that characterized that 'goodbye, England's rose' garbage. If you want to tell Diana's story, tell it straight - don't make her out to be a saint like he did, or a..well, you're the expert on filthy language so I leave it to you...as the press do. I'm sure you listen to Marilyn Manson and Pantera and trash like that, so wise up.

Hey, 'sick-of-Di': I was just kidding before. I'm sorry if I offended you in any way before. (My other new comments are back at the 'Captain Fantastic...' page). I just thought you would find my previous dirty comments funny, but, you didn't. ...I would still like to hear your in-depth view of the 'Captain Fantastic...' album. Hey, feuds aren't worth the time, and you DO seem to be a genuine Elton fan. So be well. (And Elton isn't a sell-out; he hasn't played 'Candle '97' in concert and he didn't make any money off the single, and basically he kept a low profile about it that whole time)

Well, thanks, Viper, and sorry if I said U sucked. (Hey, who said sorry seemed to be the hardest word?) I guess I got misguided by our local media who blew the entire Elton John song out of proportion! As for Capt. Fantastic, I think most of the songs on it are good....especially "Someone saved my life tonight" which is a sort of epic, really...BFN.

Enough, you're both pathetic! Here are my views on this album: This would've, could've, and should've been better than 'Made In England'... if it weren't for Chris Thomas!!! To be frank, I didn't really like Greg Penny either, but he still did a better job on MIE than what Thomas did on TBP. TBP has "Live Like Horses", which is Elton's most inspirational ballad since "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" (Don't anyone argue with me about that goddamn "Circle Of Life"- good song; not inspirational). It also features the popular "Something About The Way You Look Tonight", a Top 10 single even BEFORE it was coupled with "Candle 1997", and Elton's best single in years. It has "If The River Can Bend", which, if I'm not mistaken, was an edited Top 40 single in the UK and scheduled to be the third single off of TBP in the US before plans were scrapped for it. "Wicked Dreams" is exciting and a pleasure to listen to as it is the only 'up-tempo' track on the album (I must admit that the only downside to TBP is that most of it is just so slow and mid-tempo). The best song is the title track, a song that sounds like it belongs on the "Madman..." album or something. But about Chris Thomas: he ruins this album. His overproduction techniques may work on tracks like "Something..." but for the most part, it clutters up the sound. I say bring back Gus Dudgeon. I am not one of those fans who is stuck in the 1970s. I just believe his style of producing is needed now for than ever because it is what Elton's music deserves at this point in time- clarity and well-roundedness. For example, listen to garbage like "Recover Your Soul". Does it really need all that studio crap? And bring back Nigel Olsson to play drums and provide some back-up vocals since Charlie Morgan is not going to anymore. As for the next album, which will probably be released in 2000: Please, Elton and Bernie, make it the sequel to "Captain Fantastic"!!!! It is about time.

YOU'RE EVEN MORE PATHETIC, SMOKEYJOE. YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!!!! CANDLE IN THE WIND '97 IS UNDILUTED CRAP AND PRINCESS DIANA IS **NOT*** A SAINT OR AN INJURED INNOCENT! GET THAT INTO YOUR THICK HEAD!! NEXT, YOUR STUPID ARTICLE. "LIVE LIKE HORSES", MY BOTTLE OF PEARL JAM. THAT'S A LUCIANO PAVAROTTI SONG AND I CAN'T FORGIVE THAT BLIGHTER SINCE HE SCREWED UP U2'S PASSENGERS!!!! AND WHAT THE HELL D'YOU MEAN, "SOMEONE SAVED MY LIFE" IS INSPIRATIONAL AND "CIRCLE OF LIFE" ISN'T? BOTH OF THEM ARE JUST PLAIN OL' ELTON JOHN FARE. NOW STOP PUKING ON THIS PAGE!!!!!
E-MAIL: viperx09
screw off, smokeyjoe.... I do agree about The Big Picture on several fronts and a few of your comments on the other pages are somewhat humorous but you do indeed SUCK. I respect your opinion on Elton, though. You need to get a life....

'sick-of-di and myself' is starting to scare me. Half of the stuff he says that I said I DIDN'T EVEN SAY. Well, I don't have to prove it to anyone- it's right here for the whole world to see...loser.

A MESSAGE TO ALL USERS OF THIS PAGE: I am the one who submitted this album over a year ago so internet users could comment on the ALBUM, as so many other fans have done with this wonderful web site. This is NOT the place to act like you're five years old and swear and argue and leave it in public view. Say whether or not you liked the album and perhaps your reasons why (or why not). If you want to act pathetic and continue to communicate through the garbage that is now on this page, exchange phone numbers and have a ball. The sad part of this whole situation is that you are arguing over the work of a man who doesn't even know or care that you and your opinions exist. Turn your computers off, live life and take a stroll in the sunshine--enjoyong this planet for what it is... and grow the hell up.

The correct title for this album is "The Big Sell-out". Elton John has shown us that he is not immune to new age garbage. Where does he get off, showing his fixation on Diana to the whole world? Listen to Scorpions and get a life.
E-MAIL: Inositol Triphosphate@CyclicAMP.com
Or, if Scorpions isn't your speed, try one of these bands: Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, U2, Dire Straits, Eagles (or even better, get one of Don Henley's solo records), or even Def Leppard. Even the WORST Def Lep song (say, "Stand Up, Kick Love Into Motion" or "Armageddon It") still kicks CW 97's sorry backside any old day.

Hey, griffith@whatever.the.hell.your.address.is, your boyfriend''s been crying for you on the Captain Fantastic page. Why don''t you, he and smokeyjoe form a menage-a-trois? I''m sure you lovey-poo Elton Fans would love that. DON HENLEY RULES! (PEARL JAM, DIRE STRAITS, SCORPIONS and U@ as well!)
Not very good at first hear, but it grows on you. Artwork is repulsive at first glance, but it grows on you too. Definitely one of his most easy-listening releases to date.
