Comments for John, Elton, Rare Masters

This is a long overdue collection of Elton`s non-album singles and b-sides with the added bonus (for better or worse) of the Friend soundtrack. Although I wouldn`t recommend this to the casual fan ,for anyone who`s more this is a must-have. I admit I didn`t flip my 45`s over when these songs were contemporary so I missed out on classics like "Screw You" and "Whenever You`re Ready" but they`ve become favorites since I bought this cd. Also Elton`s early U.K. only 45`s are spotlighted which means the magnificent "Lady Samantha" and "Rock-n-Roll Madonna are available stateside. If I`m not too crazy about the inclusion of the entire Friends soundtrack the original songs from that album are all excellent . Since the Classic Years reissues of Elton`s albums have included about half of these songs as bonus tracks you might not want to spend the $25 or so that this collection will cost but it`s nice to have all these songs in one place and for what it`s worth it`s still the only place you can find listen to Friends.
