Comments for John, Elton, classic years

o.k. i know this is exactly hoyle but i feel it is a worthy addition to this webpage.
notes: blue moves is released in the u.s. by mca records but it is clearly the classic years reissue from the u.k. . it includes gus dudgeon`s notes on the remastering process that appears on all the polygram discs. the bonus songs which appear on rock of the westies are different on the u.s. reissue from the u.k. though i live in the states the copy i own is british my two cents: this is like the second coming of my childhood . elton john was my first musical obsession and this was the music i cut my rock-n-roll teeth on.as a preteen i owned most of these albums on 8-track but as i grew older and technology advanced i didn`t replace them . last year on fathyer`s day i bought a copy of goodbye yellow brick road and since then i`ve steadily bought the rest. for an elton john fan there`s no reason not to purchase these discs .the remasters are phenonmanal improvements in sound quality . all the liner notes have been completely restored. at least in the u.s. they are sold at catalogue prices (anywhere from $9 to $12 ) and most contain bonus songs that didn`t appear on album until the release of rare masters until 1992.the overall excellence of this collection is atribute to elton`s past and an honor to his legacy. i do have a couple of minor quibbles however.some room somewhere should have been made for the songs from the friends soundtrack. more of the 11-17-70 concert could have been included but neither of these things are particularly egregious though. without question the greatest improvement is with the here and there live album. what was originally a contract fulfilling ripoff has been transformed into a tetement to elton`s ability as a performer. not only have the amount of songs more than doubled but the running time has more than tripled. every elton fan should own this. whether you purchase these discs over a period of time or buy them all at once (if you have around $200 to spare) this collection is a worthy investment.
