I think this album was actually released in 1966. It currently says 1967 on the albums data page.

One of the best albums to come out of San Francisco it put's on exhibition the remarkable talent of Janis and the enthusiasm and creativity that more than made up for Big Brother and The Holding Company not being a world-class backing band.

Janis & Big Brother actually did two albums together; The first, simply titled "Big Brother & the Holding Company," was released in late ''66 or early ''67. However it was just on a small record label and didn''t get much notice. After their performance at the ''67 Monterey Festival, they were signed to CBS records and recorded "Cheap Thrills." Does anyone know whether "Big Brother and the Holding Company" is still in print?
Janis Joplin was not to out-do this album, until her posthumousPEARL. On CHEAP THRILLS we hear her sing along with the energetic Big Brother and the Holding Company. This was theironly album together. You can hear her legendary Ball and Chain. It was that song, that catapulted Joplin to stardom. Pure emotion.
