Considered one of the defining albums of the post-punk era; this is a must have album for those interested in the development of modern/alternative rock.

Mention should be made of Factory RecordUs in-house producer the late Martin Hannett: he turned a brutalist metal-punk band into something they themselves had had no inkling of.

I'm a bit older now and my tastes have changed drastically. Unknown Pleasures, however, still remains at the top of my listening stack. How can anyone get sick of such perfection!

Best Album ever! You can listen to it again and again and again and again ...... This is how music is meant to be.

A very cool album that I bought out of curiousity. You see, Warrior Soul (one of my favorite bands) do a couple of their songs on some of their albums so I figured I'd check out the band and see what they sound like. Needless to say, I'm not disappointed. The only downpoint to me on the album is Interzone (ironically, the only song I was looking forward to because Warrior Soul cover it). This album is dark, intense, gloomy and fucking amazing.

One of the greatest albums ever. Ian Curtis was a lyrical genius. Just listen to his lyrics and you can feel all the pain that he felt while trying to make it in this world. This album can make you reach emotions that are deep down in the pit of your very soul. A MUST TO OWN.

This album is incredible, as is all Joy Division. And I agree strongly with the comment someone made earlier about Martin Hannet. His genius was the guiding force behind their sound and the mood of their music. It's evident by the sudden change that New Order undertook after his departure. Movement was an outstanding album, so moving and powerful, while later albums, although enjoyable and catchy, never quite had the same feel. I wish he were producing records today, because his sound is just timeless and I know a few bands out there that could really use his help.

Any fans of Joy Division should Check Out Hong Kong Johnny - found under "H" on this web site.

To articulate in words the sheer emotional power of this album is quite beyond me really (but for a band whose lyrics seemed so preoccupied with the inability to communicate I really can't think of a more suitable comment!)
