Comments for Joy Division, Substance

This is a nice greatest hits album, but don't ignore the others.

Joy Division really know how to create that dark industrial urban feel characteristic of part of NW England. This compilation spans most of their (short) career 1977-80. They're definitely not progressive, I'd say alternative. Although they did push the post punk into new directions.

A must-have for anyone who enjoys the darker, raw-er side of music. Joy Division were great, and this album is a wonderful introduction to their music. Check it out!

I'm from the north west of England - near Manchester, and I too write songs - I only hope that I don't soud as dull and trodden as this group of depressive lumps.
