Side 1 is just a redo of Side 1 of their first LP with somewhat better fidelity - Giles' drumming sounds especially good but it's disppointing to hear basically the same side concept replicated. Side 2 is great though - "Cat Food" a wonderfully evil single mixing pop with the K.C. sound, and "The Devil's Triangle" is a scary exploration, very intense, with Fripp using the Mellotron Sun Ra - "Atlantis" style to create tension rather than relieve it.

Okay, I've been hearing over and over that "Poseidon" is a remake of "In the Court of...", which is true to a small extent. It IS a different album. It's just stylistically similar. There are different notes, lyrics, etc., but the placement of the songs is qutie similar to on the first album (really long jazzy number followed by more mellow songs). So, if you already own ItCotCK and have been detered from buying Poseidon by people saying they're the same album, DON'T LISTEN TO THEM! Poseidon is great, and definately worth buying.

well at least 2 songs really sound like a partial retread of their first album ("Pictures of a City" and "In the Wake of Poseidon"). "Cat Food" is a fun song, and "Cadence and Cascade" is a delicate ballad. but "the devil''s triangle" just doesn''t go anywhere, in my opinion. Fripp''s improvisational skills would grow by leaps and bounds a few albums later, but this album in my opinion is their least interesting.
