Comments for Kinks, the, You Really Got Me

E-MAIL: ajk@msu.edu
This album was actually released in the summer of '64 - not '65. In the UK it was just called "The Kinks" and had a few songs on it replaced by other songs in the US. A good debut overall.

A slight correction to ajk's comments: The US version simply left off three of the UK songs without replacing them. Therefore, the UK version has 14 songs and the US version has 11. The 3 songs: 'I Took My Baby Home', 'Revenge' and 'I'm A Lover Not A Fighter' - the last 2 of which ended up on the US-only 'KINKS-SIZE' LP.

An Ok album. It was only their first and showed some signs of brilliance such as the teriffic "You Really Got Me." More then half of the album is covers(but most british bands did the same thing in 1964 anyway). In comparison to "Kinda Kinks" it is a little weak, but it contains some fine orginals.

The best of the best - even to a 16 year old.
Their 1st American release
