Comments for Kinks, the, Lola vs. Powerman and the MoneyGoRound - Part OneE-MAIL: bobgill@dc.infi.net This and Muswell Hillbillies are probably the Kinks' -- that is, Ray Davies' -- most personal albums. Usually he writes about or in the guise of other characters, but here he's often writing as himself.E-MAIL: bobgill@dc.infi.net The year given for this album's release is wrong. It came out in late 1970.E-MAIL: maxvague@edge.net Man, this album always makes me SO melancholy... Just a sense of loss that I'll never put my finger on... Damn I wish there had been a Part Two!E-MAIL: bevan@voicenet.com Though not instantly as great as their previous three albums it still ranks as one of their best. They go for a more harder rocking sound with this one. It is sort of a comeback album for them containing the hit "Lola." The themes are just great on this album.. mostly an album about gettting the troubles of making it in the music buisness. "The Contenders" with its electric guitar sound and its fast pased harmonica is one of my favs. "Denmark Street", "Top Of The Pops", the short "The Moneygoround" and the humerous "Apeman" are great too. A rating of 8 out of 10.E-MAIL: ktholin@iusb.edu "Strangers," "Get Back in Line," "Lola," "This Time Tomorrow," "Long Way From Home," "Rats," and "Powerman" are some the best Kinks songs in their entire catalogue.E-MAIL: yurcan19@potsdam.edu A very good album. Definitely in their top five. "This time Tomorrow" is one of the most beautiful songs ever written.E-MAIL: kgbsfm@aol.com This album continues Ray''s ongoing theme of the feeling of distance over time and space, exemplified by "Strangers" (about his relationship with Dave?), "Gte Back in Line", "A Long Way from Home", and "This Time Tomorrow" whick I agree with Yurcan is one of the most beautiful Kinks songs...Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
