E-MAIL: maxvague@edge.net
The previous comment is probably not current (the date being 1/19/97), but it is out on Rhino records (CD) as a 2 CD compilation with Preservation pt 1.

This album was combined with Preservation Act 1 on the Rhino label. The Cd is still available as far as I know.

my favorite kinks album to get high to...back in the days

I'm sorry. As much as I love the Kinks, this album is unlistenable. It's too bad I can't buy Act I on CD without having to shell out money for Act II.

Why such comments? Some songs are listenable! 'Nothing Lasts Forever' and 'Artificail Man' are great Kinks-Songs. Listen again to 'Flash's Confession' - great guitar playing! Reminds me of Frank Zappa. And the intro of 'He's Evil' is a strong effort.

Lots of strong songs that are really neat like "Ariticial Man", "Nobody Gives", "Intro to a solution", "He's Evil" and "Salvation Road." There is other good stuff here though the announcements are rather pointless. Some of the stuff is silly like in Preservation Act 1 but its likable. Good songs but not classic stuff. Some of the ideas are repitive...i give it a rating of 7-good out of 10. This CD I found at Tower Records 2 years ago(i bought it)....but havent seen it since. I have heard every album from "You Really Got Me" to "Preservation". I can't seem to find any others after this one except "Phobia" and "Think Visiual." I heard that after this album that they had a downfall with the "Soap Opera" album.

Probably the tightest, most "conceptual" of the Kinks concept albums. Therefore, listening requires patience. Please read my comments on Preservation Act One as the two albums are linked.

I think this is one of their better albums. This is the album that got me into the Kinks. On Ray Davies.com site Boston is talking about performing this as a play. The storyline says a lot about our "times" in the present, abandoning one form of outright corruption (Flash) with a subtle "Big Brother" spectre of Mr. Black and the moral majority. The end of the story - and the end of Flash - brings about uncertainty about the hope of the peoples' future. "Absolute power corrupts" or "With great power comes great responsibility" could be a theme of this concept album. In the end, there is no Shangri-La as Ray probably tried to put into a new twist with this trilogy.

This is one of my favourite records. I got it with a 10 record set of PYE recordings in 1982. This one is far out. Hi all, from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

Oops! My previous comment applies to "The Kinks are The Village Green Preservation Society"...sorry, just a little Konfused!! I don''t have this album, nor have I knowingly heard it at any time.
Released in June of `74, this is the second act and conclusionto The Kinks` rock opera "Preservation." I`ve never seen thisalbum in stores and none of its tracks are available on anyother Kinks compilation. Anybody out there have it on CD? If so, where did you get it from?

i own act 2 on vinyl - it is a masterpiece - ray at the height of his social commentary - it's a play, a musical - i find it very relevant to the world we find ourselves in today - especially the bbc type reporting of world events as they unfold - priceless stuff - saw the kinks live twice - first time in berkeley calif - (bad finger opened) and the second time in sacramento (schoolboys tour - pretty things opened - silk torpedo days - look out)
